Taneja Group Predictions for 2016 – Jeff Kato, #2

In 2015 HyperConverged Infrastructure (HCI) became mainstream with every major storage company and many startups offering HCI products. In 2016, these same companies will realize that simple combining SDS technology with a commodity server will not be enough to win the hearts and minds of this rapidly growing customer base. This year, the HCI vendors that truly provide VM-centric ease of use combined with VM-centric advanced data services will start to separate from the pack. Customers will become much more discerning and begin demanding these features, as they comprehend that VM-centricity enables the value of the simpler infrastructure approach to be unlocked. The pioneers in this market understood this concept – now it is time for the latecomers to embrace it or be left behind.
