If You Build It for Hyper-V, Will They Come?
As Hyper-V gains market share, virtualization management vendors are once again touting their multi-hypervisor platform features. Until now, the much-hyped hybrid environment with a production mix of VMware, Hyper-V and Xen hypervisors has been hard to find outside of PowerPoint, though every management vendor claimed support for it as a key differentiator. In reality, most IT shops found it more efficient to focus on one virtualization platform, get it right, and extract as much value as possible from it before complicating things with another hypervisor (even a free one).
David Marshall and I spoke about the current state of Hyper-V uptake and Vizioncore's release of a P2V converter for the Microsoft hypervisor. Check out the discussion here.
